Dr John A.L. Lee (FAHA)

Lee was appointed Lecturer in the Department of Greek, University of Sydney, in 1973 and retired as Senior Lecturer in 2001 during which time students of St Andrew's Greek Orthodox Theological College studied New Testament Greek under his lectureship (1986-1999). He is the Chairman of the Committee on the Translation of Liturgical Texts, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia 1990-present, during which has produced bi-lingual editions of several Church services. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and was honoured in 2008 with the Gold Cross of St Andrew, the highest honour of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, for his service to this College and the Church. Dr Lee is currently Grinfield Lecturer in the Septuagint at Oxford (for 2011-12). In early 2011 he delivered the first series of lectures and also offered a seminar in Cambridge and a lecture in Paris.
