Guest Lecture by Professor Garry Trompf

On Wednesday October 14 the College was pleased to host Emeritus Professor Garry W. Trompf, FAHA (Studies in Religion, the University of Sydney) as a guest speaker for H7230A Byzantium: Empire of New Rome. At the invitation of Dr Mario Baghos (Associate Lecturer in Church History), Professor Trompf gave an insightful lecture on ‘The Rise of Islam and its Impact on Byzantium,’ which contextualised the factors that led to the reduction of the borders of Byzantium in the seventh century AD.
