A/Prof. Philip Kariatlis, Sub-Dean of St Andrew’s Theological College recently delivered a presentation as part of the Orthodox Renewal Series hosted by St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Parish, Kingsford. Speaking on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, A/Prof. Kariatlis presented a lecture entitled “He First Loved Us: Christ and the Journey from Death into Life,” exploring the profound Christian conviction that every aspect of God’s relationship with humanity is grounded in His immeasurable and initiating love. Drawing upon Holy Scripture, the Church Fathers, and the liturgical tradition, the presentation reflected on how the love of God—revealed in creation, fulfilled in the Cross, and communicated through the Holy Spirit and the life of the Church—calls every person into a transformative journey from death to the fullness of eternal life. The lecture formed part of St Spyridon's 50th Anniversary Orthodox Renewal Series, which has brought together distinguished Orthodox speakers from Australia and abroad to deepen the faithful's understanding of the Orthodox faith and spiritual life.
