The library was established with the opening of St Andrew's in February 1986.
The first full-time librarian was appointed at the end of 1987. Until that time the library was largely an accumulation of books and periodicals bought by academic staff and donated by other libraries in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
In September 1995 the library moved to its new premises. Since the move, new chairs, study carrels, computer terminals, a serials display stand, reception table and loans desk have been added, custom-made to suit the refined and academic atmosphere of the library.
The collection currently consists of over 16,500 monographs and 200 periodicals available in English and Greek with specialisation in (Greek) Patristic texts, Eastern Orthodox doctrine and spirituality, and Byzantine Music transcripts.
The Library has been greatly enriched by the benefaction of the Very Rev. Miltiades Chryssavgis and Presbytera Alkistis Chryssavgis, the late Archimandrite Chrysostomos Vogiatzoglou, and the late Mr Michalis and Mrs Chrystalla Lavithis.
Borrowing is available to staff and students of the Theological College. Limited borrowing rights exist for staff and students of member institutions within the Sydney College of Divinity, as well as members of the general public. All requests for inter-library loans should be directed to Mr Chris Harvey.
General internet access is also available from two public terminals within the library. Additionally, there are two more terminals which offer general MS Office resources (e.g. MS Word, MS Power Point) with a connected printer.

Opening Hours:
During Teaching and Exam Weeks
Monday to Thursday: 10am-2pm and 3-8pm
Friday: 10am-1pm and 2-4pm
During Non-Teaching Weeks
Monday to Friday: 10am-4pm
Closed: Weekends and Public Holidays as well as 6 January, 25 March, Holy Friday, Easter Monday and 15 August.

Students of St Andrew's wishing to borrow from libraries of other Sydney College of Divinity member instituions need to complete an Application Form and consult the Librarian, Mr Chris Harvey.
SCD COMMON LIBRARY PORTAL
The Common Portal brings together in one search engine all the library catalogues of those libraries associated with the Sydney College of Divinity (SCD). Staff and students are welcome to search though this portal as they would any other library catalogue to determine if the resources could assist them in their study or research.
Should you wish to borrow a particular resource located outside of St Andrew's please contact the Librarian to arrange an Inter-Library Loan on your behalf. Alternatively you may wish to visit the relevant library personally and borrow the item.
How to use the SCD Common Library Portal
Go to http://scdcat.vdxhost.com/scd/
On left hand side of the screen choose either Standard Search or Advanced Search. Type what you need into the search box.
The 'Searchable Collections' option enables you to select specific SCD member institution libraries to search if you wish.
