Elevation to Archimandrite

Elevation to Archimandrite

On Saturday 12 December, College alumnus and faculty member Fr Amphilohios Papantoniou (Bachelor of Theology, 2001) was elevated to the office of Archimandrite by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. This conferral took place at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Spyridon (Kingsford, NSW) during the end of Liturgy for the Patronal Feast Day of Saint Spyridon the Miracle-Worker, Bishop of Trimythounda. His Eminence, after recounting the holy life of St Spyridon as a model of spiritual simplicity and courageous faith in the face of doctrinal error, invited Fr Amphilohios to emulate the saint and to continue steadfastly in his modest and simple way of life, informed also by his theological education, in order to serve Christ and His Church.
