SCD Conference: ‘Wellbeing, Personal Wholeness, and the Social Fabric'

On Monday 28 September 2015, Professor James Harrison (Director of Research, Sydney College of Divinity) convened the academic conference ‘Wellbeing, Personal Wholeness, and the Social Fabric: An Interdisciplinary Approach’ at the SCD Headquarters (Macquarie Park NSW).

The event consisted in the presentation of fourteen papers by lecturers and researchers from each of the theological colleges members of the SCD, as well as that of the honorary research associate, Dr Wendy Mayer (Centre for Early Christian Studies, Australian Catholic University, QLD). The papers attempted to offer a holistic and spiritually beneficial definition of wellbeing whilst examining the concept from a broad range of perspectives: e.g., historical, philosophical/theological, scriptural, and sociological.

St Andrew’s was represented by Protopresbyter Dr Doru Costache (Senior Lecturer in Patristic Studies), Dr Philip Kariatlis (Senior Lecturer in Systematic Theology), and Dr Mario Baghos (Associate Lecturer in Church History), each of whom examined the topic from the vantage point of their own discipline.
