Keynote Address at the NSW Scripture Teachers’ Conference 1 December — Church of St Gerasimos, Leichhardt

Assoc. Prof. Philip Kariatlis, Sub-Dean of the College delivered the keynote address at the annual NSW Scripture Teachers’ Conference which was held on Monday 1 December at the Church of St Gerasimos in Leichhardt. The title of the address was: “The Heart of Scriptural Education: Inspiring the Soul, Nurturing the Heart, Forming Lives through the Love of God.” Drawing on Scripture and the Fathers of the Church, Dr Kariatlis highlighted that the mission of the Scripture teacher is not merely to convey information, but to inspire students to seek an encounter with God and to discern His boundless love in their lives. He stressed the importance of daily engagement with Scripture, the centrality of the Divine Liturgy, and the sacred vocation of Scripture teachers as co-workers with God in shaping young hearts.
