Celebrating Nicaea - One-Day Seminar

On Saturday 2nd August 2025, St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College presented a one-day seminar on the topic “Celebrating Nicaea” as part of its Adult Faith Education initiative proposed at a recent Council meeting with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the College’s President and Dean.

Hosted at the Parish of St Ioannis in Parramatta, talks were given by faculty of the college; Sub-Dean, Associate Professor Philip Kariatlis; the Very Reverend Fr Anastasios Bozikis; and the Reverend Fr Anastasios Kalogerakis.

The day began with a blessing given from His Grace Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, followed by an introductory greeting and welcome by the Very Reverend Fr Christophoros Krikelis, Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.

Subsequently, the three main talks were delivered followed by group discussions which sought to allow attendants to summarise, understand and articulate the main topics presented throughout the seminar.

Dr Philip Kariatlis presented on the topic “The Creed: What We Believe, How We Are Called to Live.”

Fr Anastasios Bozikis presented on the topic “The Historical Context of Nicaea.”

Fr Anastasios Kalogerakis outlined the different study opportunities available at the College.

To close the day, Fr Dimitrios Kokkinos, Parish Priest of St Ioannis Parramatta, conducted a vespers service together with Deacon Timotheos Mavromatis.
