Public Lecture

On Friday 20th June 2025, Assoc. Prof. Philip Kariatlis, Sub-Dean presented a talk at the Church of Sts Raphael, Nicholas and Irene at Liverpool (Sydney) to the young adults’ group entitled: “A Joy Beyond Measure: the Church as our Entrance into Eternity”.

The talk explored the Church as the entry point into eternal joy and divine life through the Holy Spirit. It began by framing the Church as the locus of ultimate human joy and fulfillment, rooted in communion with Christ.

Drawing on Pentecost, the Church was portrayed as the Spirit-filled Body of Christ, reversing the divisions of Babel and completing Christ’s salvific mission. The Holy Spirit, as the “perfecting cause,” enables the Church to live, teach, and sanctify truthfully throughout history.
