Public Seminar: Christian Perspectives on the Environment

On Thursday 12 May 2016, St Andrew’s was honoured to welcome for the second time the esteemed scholar, Professor Jonathan Wooding (Sir Warwick Fairfax Professor of Celtic Studies, The University of Sydney). Prof. Wooding offered the main address of a seminar hosted by the College, entitled Christian Perspectives on the Environment.

After introductory remarks by Dr Philip Kariatlis (Academic Director & Senior Lecturer in Systematic Theology) on 'Orthodox Initiatives on Environmental Issues,' the distinguished guest spoke on 'Saints and Nature in the Celtic Tradition.' Prof. Wooding's talk was followed by Protopresbyter Dr Doru Costache’s (Senior Lecturer in Patristic Studies) analysis of Eastern monastic perspectives on the environment. The event was attended by students, staff, and members of the public. It featured a brief though very engaging Q & A session.

St Andrew’s wishes to thank Prof. Wooding for his enriching presentation.
