On Friday morning, 23 May, the Very Rev’d Father Miltiades Chryssavgis, a former lecturer of Byzantine Music and Church History at the College, addressed the first year Bachelor of Theology students as part of their Formation program. He reflected on his nearly 70 years of ministry as a priest and offered insights into the principles and practices that guided his pastoral work in various contexts. The students were very interested to hear of his association with some of the spiritual and academic giants of 20th century Orthodoxy including St Gervasios of Patras (his first spiritual father), St Sophronios of Essex, St Paisios the Athonite, Metropolitan Kallistos Ware and Fathers Alexander Schmemann, John Meyendorff and Thomas Hopko. A most enlightening and edifying conversation followed the talk. Many thanks to Father Miltiades for his continued contribution to theological education at St Andrew’s.
